IMPLEMENTATION OF HEALING ENVIRONMENT: PENERAPAN PRINSIP ARSITEKTUR RAMAH LINGKUNGAN PADA SUARGALOKA CAMARI SHELTER PEKANBARU

Abstract: Animal shelters play a vital role as spaces for rescue and recovery of abandoned animals. However, most shelters in Indonesia still focus on basic functions without considering environmental quality that supports animal welfare. This study aims to analyze the application of environmentally friendly architectural principles as part of the implementation of the healing environment at Suargaloka Camari Shelter, Pekanbaru. The research method employed a qualitative-descriptive approach through literature review, field observation, and analysis of architectural elements related to natural lighting, ventilation, vegetation, materials, and spatial layout. The findings indicate that the shelter has implemented several healing environment elements, particularly natural lighting, cross ventilation, and green open spaces. However, aspects such as acoustics, sustainable materials, and interactive landscaping still require improvement. In conclusion, the application of environmentally friendly architecture principles has the potential to reduce animal stress, improve health, and accelerate the adoption process. This research contributes to the development of more sustainable shelter designs oriented toward animal welfare in Indonesia.

Abstrak: Shelter hewan berperan penting sebagai ruang penyelamatan dan pemulihan bagi hewan terlantar. Namun, sebagian besar shelter di Indonesia masih berorientasi pada fungsi dasar tanpa mempertimbangkan kualitas lingkungan yang mendukung kesejahteraan hewan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penerapan prinsip arsitektur ramah lingkungan sebagai bagian dari integrasi healing environment pada Suargaloka Camari Shelter Pekanbaru. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif melalui studi literatur, observasi lapangan, serta analisis elemen arsitektur yang terkait dengan pencahayaan alami, ventilasi, vegetasi, material, dan tata ruang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa shelter telah menerapkan beberapa elemen healing environment, terutama pencahayaan alami, ventilasi silang, dan ruang terbuka hijau. Namun, aspek akustik, material berkelanjutan, dan lanskap interaktif masih perlu ditingkatkan. Kesimpulannya, penerapan prinsip arsitektur ramah lingkungan berpotensi menurunkan stres hewan, meningkatkan kesehatan, dan mempercepat proses adopsi. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan desain shelter hewan yang lebih berkelanjutan dan berorientasi pada kesejahteraan hewan di Indonesia.
