READING TUTORING FOR CHILDRENON THE QUR’AN THROUGH THE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM AT THE AZ-ZIKRA MOSQUE, RW 10

Abstract

The Quran reading tutoring program is one form of community service carried out through the Community Service Program (KKN). This program was implemented in Az-Zikra RW 10 with the aim of helping to improve children’s Quran reading skills, fostering their interest and motivation in studying the Quran, and encouraging them to read the Quran from an early age. The method used was a descriptive approach through direct guidance during joint Quran study sessions with the children. The activities included an introduction to the Hijaiyah alphabet, reading practice using the “Iqra’” method and the Qur’an tailored to each child’s ability level, guidance on letter pronunciation, and an introduction to the basics of tajwid. The results of the activities showed that guidance through joint study sessions provided children with the opportunity to practice reading the Qur’an under direct supervision. These activities also helped increase the children’s engagement and enthusiasm in learning, gradually 

developed their reading skills, and fostered the habit of regularly studying the Qur’an. Thus, these activities are expected to support the improvement of the children’s Qur’an reading skills while strengthening the mosque’s role as a center for religious education within the community.
